Colorado Springs Hiking Trails

By Shawn Jardine

Want to go hiking?

Colorado Springs offers lots of hiking spots right in town! I love this about our city. You can take a quick hike and then grab a nice lunch or even a late breakfast. Of course there are lots of other spots for hiking outside of town but this post is just about the hyper-local trails.

One of my favorite areas is Cheyenne Canon. There are several trails that offer a challenge and usually a spectacular view of the city or the mountains. The City of Colorado Springs has a great page on their web site with a full list of all of the local trails as well as maps of each trail. This will give you an idea of how long the trail is and the level of difficulty. Perfect for beginners or those hiking with kids. Other traills are good for just walking or biking. The site details those locations as well.

If you are planning a move to the Colorado Springs area, contact me for information on homes near hiking and biking trails. We have a few neighborhoods that are perfect for people who want to be able to come home and take a quick hike before dinner! Where else in the world could life be this good? Only in Colorado Springs!

Typical Halloween-time Snow in Colorado Springs!

By Shawn Jardine YouTube Preview Image

Here we go again!

Day 2 of the big 09 Halloween Storm. This is a normal thing for Colorado Springs so if you are thinking of moving here–don’t panic! The storm has closed most of the area down for the past two days but by the weekend we’ll have blue skies again. I’ll do a before and after video just to prove it (hopefully).

I work from a home office so the only issue for me is that I have no view from my upstairs office. I usually can see Pikes Peak from my desk but not today! Earlier this morning, my son and I went out to clear the driveway for the furniture delivery guys. It was fun to get outside but better to come back in and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa! The bad news is that the driveway was almost instantly covered in snow again and now the delivery truck can’t make it until Saturday. Oh well.

If you really don’t like snow, it is better to live further south in Colorado Springs. Many times the weather is not bad at all in Fountain. Temps can be 10 degrees higher than they are here in Flying Horse (near Monument). I’m a Colorado Springs native so the snow doesn’t bother me. I remember many times as a kid having mega Halloween storms. The good news was that my brother and I got more candy since not as many kids would go out in the snow. Good times!

Colorado Springs is a great place to live in any season. For real advice on where to live, contact me. I can give you info on any area in the Pikes Peak region and tell you what the weather is like in all of them!
